Come away to the tropics and float along the waves to another place in time. This beautiful Jazz piece carries one to the shores of Penang, Malaysia—a lovely sunny day, where the water was warm and wonderful to swim in. Just read the words to the song as you listen to the music.
The warm gentle breezes sways pass by me
Beckoning me on to come play today
The sweet scent of flowers lures me in its power
As I breathe it all in the red blooms this very hour
chorus
I begin to behold the divine creation
And embrace this space for a while
and feel its joy
In a moment in time, In a moment in time
Ah – – – -, Ah – – – -, Ah – – – –
I sing a hymn as I take a swim
Into the Indian Ocean, sensing its emotion
The iridescent shrimp dance before me in style
As I gently float on by, for a while
I begin to smile

Inge states, “A Moment in Time is my personal experience I had when I visited Penang, Malaysia in October of 1973. The warmth of the Indian Ocean and viewing the shrimp underwater as I swam on by gave me a sense of ah… at the wonders of God’s divine creation. I felt that I was cradled within His creation. “
Listen to the original vocal version.

In the studio using Reason, Propellerhead, I laid down 16 different instrument tracks. The amazing thing is that this song has four [real guitar] tracks. I say real because it was not synthesized. These are the Fender Bullet Strat, Fender Marauder, Gibson L5, and Mitchell 12 strings. I had a fellow musician, Jay Palmer, come in to play the Gibson L5. Jay named his Gibson L5 “Amelia” after his grandmother. The Gibson L5 was routed through a Peavy Classic 20 [older version, 1990s amp] using a Shure 57 microphone.
I would ask those who listened to the song if they could tell the difference between the Gibson L5 and the Jazz guitar playing the lead. These dual guitars played against each other. They virtually came into the mix side by side. If you listen closely, you will hear Jay’s fingers doing guitar finger slurs in the melody of the song. This instrumental piece was a fun project to produce. Every gifted musician has their creative sound that makes the composition interesting. Thank you, Jay Palmer, for your wonderful contribution to this song.
When mastering this piece of music, I decided to use Propellerhead Reason, Softube Tube-Tech Classic Channel. The Tube-Tech Classic Channel contains three VST plugins: the PE C1 equalizer, the mid-range equalizer, and the PE C1 compressor. These plugins are designed after the Pultec tube-based hardware that is used in many studios around the world. The unit gives a smooth, warm sound.

To learn more about the VST Plugin, watch this YouTube video for a demonstration. This plugin is no longer available at Reason Studio.
The Tube-Tech Equalizers mk II is now available to try for free at Softube website. Softube has an updated version of this VST plugin.
